According to an exit poll shared with Breitbart News, a large majority of New Yorkers would like a new Congress that prioritizes ending illegal immigration and deporting the millions of illegal immigrants living in the United States.
The exit survey, performed by Zogby Analytics for the Federation of American Immigration Reform (FAIR), demonstrates the extent to which New Yorkers support a fervent national goal to limit illegal immigration immigration to the United States in the midst of floods of illegal immigration to NY City.
Nearly 58% of New Yorkers, including 58% of non-college-educated electors, 62% of white voters, and 52% of Hispanic voters, believe a new Congress should prioritize halting undocumented immigration by securing the US-Mexico border and deporting illegal aliens already present in the country.
Giving illegal aliens amnesty should be the top priority for Congress, according to less than 11% of New Yorkers, while boosting legal immigration should be the top goal for 25%.
According to FAIR’s RJ Hauman, the exit polling data lays to rest a Republican establishment talking point that in order for the Republicans to garner support from voters in blue and battleground areas, they must accept amnesty and increased legal levels of immigration.
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), for example, suggested last week that the Republican Party support increases to the country’s already record high legal levels of immigration, which yearly award over a million foreigners with green cards and then another million with temporary visas for employment to take American jobs.
Decades of legal immigration, along with President Joe Biden’s record-breaking illegal immigration, have pushed the country’s foreign-born population to an all-time high of 47 million.

“Our poll shows clearly that even blue-state voters want tight borders and no amnesty in the next Congress,” Hauman added. “If Republicans take the opposite path, they not only will alienate and betray their base, but they will also lose ground in key states.”
According to the exit poll, a thin majority of New Yorkers, almost 52 percent, blame Biden’s initiatives for the arrival of more than 5.5 million undocumented people and illegal aliens at the southern border in the last two years, which include 54 percentage of non-college educated electors, 58 percent of white voters, and 52 percent of Hispanic voters.
Just under 14 percent of New Yorkers believed Biden’s actions “demotivated” undocumented immigration, while 25 percent claimed they had no effect.
Similarly, 58 percent of New Yorkers, including over 65 percent of Hispanic voters, favor the completion of a border wall along the US-Mexico border.
According to Hauman, the route forward for Senate and House Republicans is an immigration program that appeals to both their base and the majority of the midterm election electorate.
“While House control will really be close, Republicans are going to be able to achieve results on immigration,” Hauman said. “Start by rejecting amnesty in the lame-duck meeting, then pass a powerful bill right out of the gate, perform assertive oversight, and also do not give a dime to the Homeland Security Department without conditions attached.”
