Senate Democrats were grinning as they highlighted a $105 billion giveaway in taxpayer dollars for illegal immigrants. On Tuesday during lunch, the party enjoyed a slideshow of their wet-dream $3.5 trillion ‘reconciliation’ bill, imagining all the wasteful ways in which they could blow $3.5 trillion of your children and grandchildren’s taxes.
The $105 billion, according to the party’s slideshow, is earmarked for “eligible immigrants” in order to make sure that their illegal presence in the country is maintained indefinitely. The money is literally meant to be supportive of criminal activity, used to keep illegal aliens from being deported.
The slideshow goes on to add that the Congressional Budget Office estimates the impact of the spending on the federal budget to amount to $140 billion, which the Democrats claim is low enough that they can squeeze it through the ‘reconciliation’ spending loophole. The massive spending proposal is just a drop in the bucket of their gargantuan $3.5 trillion initiative.
Reconciliation is a routine parliamentary procedure which allows the U.S. Senate to pass budget related legislation with a low-threshold of 50 votes. Using it to increase the budget by the amount proposed has never been done in history and is a loophole.
During the weekly lunch gathering, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) emphasized the importance of including the immigration spending in their ‘reconciliation’ plan. Durbin argued that such spending will help fix America’s “broken” immigration system, that every dollar spent on immigrants gives the U.S. ten dollars back, and that illegal aliens make up a sizeable portion of the “functioning… economy.”
The House is currently drafting text for the reconciliation effort, although moderate Democrats Senators Joe Manchin (WV), and Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) have both vocalized their opposition to the radical spending plan. If they defect from the party line, the Democrats will only have 48 votes in the Senate, foiling their plot.
The Senate isn’t the only place where Democrats are dealing with infighting. In the House, Representative Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) promised to tank the $3.5 trillion ‘reconciliation’ effort unless she was able to read through the bill in full.
