We aren’t sure what’s happening with the candy companies lately, but it seems they might be revolting against all common sense. It was just announced that the Hershey Company, you know, the ones with the amazing chocolate bars, have started firing all their employees who decided they wouldn’t get the COVID vaccination.
Oh, and on top of that, all the terminated employees were asked to also sign a confidentiality agreement that is nine pages long, and waives all their rights to sue Hershey company or even talk about the experiences they had with the company.
The agreement the company is trying to get these fired employees to sign would prohibit them from even discussing the existence of the agreement, the terms, and conditions found within. It also contains a clause for non-disparagement, which prevents the employees that sign the document from using their voice to speak out.
But it doesn’t stop there, they’re even trying to bribe employees to sign the agreement by offering them a “special separation payment” if they sign it. Basically, they’ll get around two months of pay if they sign it, and those who don’t choose to sign it won’t get the severance from the company.
This termination is right on the heels of months and months of meetings within the company where the HR department pushed COVID vaccine information on employees and asked them about their lives to try and determine whether they had changed their minds when it comes to receiving the vaccine for COVID.
One payment analyst and sourcing buy for Hershey, Kim Durham said she thought she would be fine. She thought the company wouldn’t go as far as to question her faith, but they did. Hershey denied her request for a religious exemption from the vaccine.
She said she had thought the conversation about the vaccine and issues around it was over until September when she was asked to meet with a representative from HR who interrogated her on her religious beliefs. She said her words were twisted and that she was asked questions that didn’t have anything to do with her religion.
Hershey reportedly asked employees about their previous vaccines, their children’s vaccines, and how often they attended church. They also asked if employees took OTC medicines, and said that anyone who takes those was not religious because these medicines share ingredients with those that are in the COVID vaccines.
They also used the pope as a weapon, saying that he got his vaccine and anyone who didn’t was apostate.
