As Americans started receiving their “free” COVID-19 testing kits from the U.S. government, many people noticed a major issue with their package. The kits, according to those who’ve received them, are all Made in China.
Nick Arama of RedState explains that he “almost choked when I saw that.” He added that it’s nearly impossible to get tests at pharmacies, leaving many people dependent on these Chinese-produced home-kits. He balked at the fact that Biden both failed to hold the nation accountable for unleashing the virus on the world, and then even turns around and supplies them with cash for manufacturing “free tests” for America.
Bill Hemmer of Fox News similarly noted the issue on Tuesday. He praised the postal service’s speed in delivering test kits but noticed with concern that the kits were Made in China. He pointed out that the company responsible for the kits’ manufacture, iHealth, is a subsidiary of the Chinese company Andon Health Co. Ltd. The Chinese corporation was given a $1.275 billion contract by the U.S. Government on Jan. 13 to produce the kits.
Fox News’s Bill Hemmer brought the issue up on Tuesday. While he praised the government and postal service’s speed in getting him the test kits, the four iHealth Labs Inc. kits said on the back of the box they were made in China.
A White House spokesperson responded to the coverage from Hemmer, claiming that due to the large volume of tests needed, it wasn’t possible for all of them to be made in America. He said that the government was ”
A Biden administration official told Fox News that given the volume of tests needed, they couldn’t all have been made in America. He said that the U.S. government was “procuring as many US-made at-home tests as are available to purchase,” but going to vendors to fill in the difference. He added that sending out exclusively U.S.-made tests would interfere with the normal supply chain of COVID-19 tests for “states, pharmacies, and online retailers.” The official assured that all tests, even the ones made in China “underwent a rigorous FDA approval process guaranteeing that it is of the highest quality.”
Others disagreed, however.
Got my “free” COVID tests. What a joke. Not only are they made in China but the “sealed” tube was open and went everywhere. Theoretically, I could only use one test because of the lack of solution. 🙄 pic.twitter.com/dn18DGhnsi

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) said in a statement that the fact that American taxpayer dollars were being spent on “COVID tests from Communist China… directly supporting General Secretary Xi and his genocidal regime” was “unacceptable” and that the orders for test kits should have been given to “American manufacturers and jobs.”
Other known at-home COVID-19 tests made in the U.S. are produced by Indiana-based Roche Diagnostic Corp. as well as Florida-based Abbott Rapid Dx North America LLC.
